Another dreamboat in the canon of Vitaly Gzell. An architect who more than any other Australian Mid-Century practitioner captured all the glamour and perk of 50s California and relocated it to our QLD capital. Once again we see that marvellously clean internal brickwork and masonry features outside (those external pebble-mix stairs alone, traversing the neo-spanish render wall inset with feature turquoise glass panels makes us want to slip on our wedgies, high waisted bikini and call up that pursuing mogul for a ‘meeting’.). The zany angles, Hollywood pool and candy-striper bathroom in addition will have some squealing with sugar-coated delight. Apparently in the hands of swiss concert cellists (now there are some folk bound to identify a fully realised masterwork when they see it) who purchased it from the original owners in 1997, and seemingly have not moved a hair out of place since then. If any home needs a MCM obsessive to love and care for it just as it is, we have it here.
